St. Luke Lutheran Church was established in 2002 by a merger of Living Word Lutheran Church (Jonesboro, GA) and Abundant Grace Lutheran Church (McDonough, GA), continuing decades of ministry on the south side of metro Atlanta. The Rev. Dr. William Flippin Jr. is currently serving as senior pastor of St. Luke. In 2017, God blessed the congregation by allowing us to purchase a permanent home on Brannan Road.
St. Luke is a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).
The ELCA has more than 3.8 million members in nearly 10,000 congregations across the 50 states and in the Caribbean region. With roots in the writings of sixteenth-century church reformer Martin Luther, the ELCA emphasizes the saving grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ, unity among Christians, and service in the world.
